Lubbock Cooper Liberty gets the sweep against the Shallowater Fillies


The Lubbock Cooper Liberty Patriots

displayed remarkable resilience in their sweep of the Shallowater Fillies, winning 30-28, 26-24, 25-20. In a thrilling first set, Liberty fought off game point while trailing 27-28, rallying to take the set 30-28. If there’s one word to describe the Patriots, it’s resilient. They trailed for most of the second set but again fended off game point at 23-24, ultimately securing a 26-24 win to go up 2-0. Campbell Beeler was a standout with 15 digs and 10 kills, while Jacelyn Gestes contributed 22 assists, 11 digs, and 3 kills to help seal the victory.




Liberty celebrates a BIG kill again Shallowater

The calendar hasn't turned to September yet but with district 3-5A rocking a 9 team district this year we got to see the district games kickoff early this year.


Lubbock High Falls on the Road to Caprock in a nail biter.


Lubbock High Lady Westerners fought hard on the road but fell just short against Caprock in a five-set thriller, losing 25-18, 17-25, 17-25, 26-24, 15-11.


Despite leading 2-1 after three sets, Lubbock High was unable to close out the match, as Caprock rallied in the final two sets to secure the victory. With this result, Lubbock High now holds an 8-10 overall record and is 0-1 in district play.


Lubbock Coronado takes down Lubbock Monterey in a 5 Set thriller


In a thrilling volleyball showdown, Lubbock Coronado edged out Lubbock Monterey in a five-set marathon. Coronado claimed the first set with a tight 26-24 win, but Monterey bounced back to take the second set 25-18. The third set saw another close battle, with Monterey emerging victorious 26-24. Refusing to back down, Coronado dominated the fourth set 25-17, setting the stage for a nail-biting final set. Coronado held their nerve to secure a 16-14 victory, sealing the match with a 3-2 win in this high-stakes rivalry clash.

The Lubbock Cooper Lady Pirates, the lone District 3-5A member not playing a district matchup had a mixed outing in Midland, splitting their two volleyball matches. They started strong with a solid 3-1 win over Monahans, securing sets 25-13, 23-25, 25-13, and 25-12. However, they faced a tougher challenge against Midland Legacy, where they fought hard but ultimately fell 3-2, with set scores of 25-23, 27-25, 18-25, 16-25, and 16-14.


Riley Roberts had a standout night with 20 kills and 9 blocks, while Sarah Goltz led the team with 29 kills and 3 blocks. Lydia Pesterfield orchestrated the offense with 49 assists, adding 14 digs and 4 aces. Addi Southard anchored the defense with 40 digs and served up 8 aces in an impressive performance.
