Lady Pirates Dominate Plainview on First Responders Night

In front of an enthusiastic home crowd, the Lubbock Cooper Lady Pirates honored local heroes on "First Responders Night" and delivered a commanding performance, sweeping Plainview in straight sets, 25-11, 25-13, 25-17. The Lady Pirates came out strong from the start, never allowing Plainview to gain momentum. Kambel Johnston led the Lady Pirates’ attack with a powerful performance at the net, recording 10 kills and 4 blocks. Sarah Goltz was equally effective, contributing 11 kills and 2 blocks. Meanwhile, setters Broox Lopez and Lydia Pesterfield orchestrated the offense with precision, each tallying 17 assists to keep the Plainview defense off balance throughout the match.


The victory improved Lubbock Cooper’s record to 19-9 overall and 3-0 in district play, keeping pace with Amarillo High atop the district standings. Plainview, on the other hand, struggled to find rhythm and fell to 10-12 overall, with a 0-4 record in district.

Liberty Lady Patriots Sweep Dual at Frenship, Prepare for Cross-Town Clash with Monterey


The Lubbock Cooper Liberty Lady Patriots hit the road Tuesday night and delivered two impressive victories in a dual matchup, defeating Hereford and Frenship.

In their opening match, Liberty came out firing, controlling the game from the first serve. The Lady Patriots earned a commanding 25-19, 25-11, 25-14 sweep over Hereford, leaning on their balanced play and depth across the court. Setter Jacelyn Gestes ran a smooth offense with 16 assists and 6 digs, while Abby Dallas led the attack with 12 kills and 6 digs. Liberty’s defensive effort was anchored by Campbell Beeler, who recorded 13 digs, 3 kills, and 2 aces. The setting duo of Karson Killham and Katelyn Glenn contributed 10 assists and 2 digs each, keeping Hereford on its heels.


Following the sweep of Hereford, Liberty punched up 2 classifications facing off against 6A Frenship. The Lady Patriots dropped the first set 23-25 before rallying to win the next three sets 25-16, 25-20, 25-19, sealing their second victory of the night. Madi Heider led the offense with 15 kills, 4 digs, and 2 aces, while Kennedy Ezell had a standout defensive performance, recording 24 digs along with 7 assists and 2 aces. Katelyn Glenn orchestrated the attack with 25 assists, 11 digs, and 3 aces, and Jacelyn Gestes added 22 assists, 4 digs, and 2 aces. Abby Dallas added 14 kills and 5 digs, while Campbell Beeler contributed 6 kills and 4 digs, rounding out a balanced team effort that allowed Liberty to wear down Frenship as the match progressed. Despite a strong performance from Frenship’s Hana Hutcheson, who dished out 47 assists and had 7 digs, and Hadlee Welch’s 22 kills and 2 aces, Liberty’s resilience and depth helped them secure the win.
