Last night, Lubbock Cooper Lady Pirate Volleyball star Bird Moffitt reaffirmed her commitment to play volleyball at Texas Women's University (TWU). Moffitt's journey to TWU saw a pivotal moment this weekend when she had the opportunity to connect with TWU's new head coach, Jessica Ransom. This meeting proved crucial for Moffitt, as it helped her make a confident decision about her future with the Pioneers.

Bird has made quite an impact in her high school volleyball career. She was the District 3-5A Co-Defensive MVP for the Amarillo Lady Sandies, amassing an impressive 470 digs and 35 aces last season. This summer, she moved from Amarillo High to Lubbock Cooper, where she will play her senior year.

In an exclusive interview, Moffitt shared her thoughts on meeting Coach Ransom and how it influenced her commitment to TWU.

What was your biggest takeaway after getting to meet with Coach Ransom?

"One of the biggest takeaways from my chats with Coach Ransom is that she wants me to find my perfect fit and feel at home wherever I end up. I am so glad that fit ended up being Texas Woman’s. We have talked about how college is about much more than volleyball and that at TWU I will have the full support of the volleyball program and faculty."

This reassurance from Coach Ransom played a significant role in Moffitt's decision to reaffirm her commitment. The emphasis on finding the right fit and feeling at home resonated deeply with Moffitt, making TWU the ideal choice for her both athletically and academically.

How important was it for you to get to connect with Coach Ransom and get peace about your TWU commitment before the volleyball season started?

"Meeting Coach Ransom was such a blessing. At first, when I found out Coach Huebner was leaving, I was worried. But throughout our conversation, Ransom has eased my mind and made me feel welcome! It is a relief to recommit before my school volleyball season starts and get to focus on my senior year at Cooper."

The chance to connect with Coach Ransom not only alleviated Moffitt's concerns but also reinforced her enthusiasm for joining the TWU volleyball program. This renewed commitment allows her to concentrate on her upcoming senior year at Lubbock Cooper with confidence and clarity.

As Bird looks forward to her future at TWU, she now turns her eyes towards her Senior season with the Lady Pirates where her dedication and talent will undoubtedly continue to shine, both on and off the court.
