Falcon and Lady Falcon Regional Track Meet Results

The 3A Region 1 Regional Track Meet was held at Abilene Christian University this weekend and the Falcons and Lady Falcons were well represented.


Field Events


Shot Put


Natalee Berryman got the weekend started for the Lady Falcons in the shot put, throwing 32’08.75” taking 12th in the Region.

Long Jump


Next the action moved into the stadium with Leah Ruthardt and Emma Troxell in the long jump. Leah jumped 16’05.50” for 13th in the Region. Emma set a new school record as she jumped 17’ 09.5” good for 3rd place.

Discuss


Emma would also be in action Saturday morning throwing the discus with a best throw of 125’08” good for 4th in the Region.

Matt Bridges wrapped up the field event action for the Falcons in the discus with a throw of 140’08” good for 8th in the Region.

Running Events


3200m Run


The Regional Meet started the morning off Friday with the 3200m run which saw Zack Nichols trim 20 seconds off of his PR to run a 10:19.32, good for 8th place in the Region.

4x100m Relay


The Lady Falcons got the afternoon running events started FAST as they came out in prelims of the 4x100 and put up a 49.07 to go into the finals as the #1 seed. Saturday they came out even faster claiming the Region 1 Championship and punching their ticket to State with a 48.92.

Not to be outdone the Falcon 4x100 claimed the #1 seed after putting up a 42.62 in prelims. On Saturday they shattered the school record and the Regional Meet record with a 41.78, claiming the Region 1 Championship along with their ticket to State.

800m


The 800m run was run as a Finals only event on Saturday. Freshman Jenner King ran a 208.41 placing 12th in the Region.

100m Dash


Next up for the Lady Falcons was Jesse Fowler who qualified in 3rd with a prelims time of 12.14. In the Finals Jesse trimmed a tenth of a second off her time for a 12.04 claiming the Silver Medal and locking in her 2nd event at the State Track Meet.

For the Falcons it was Tate Butcher in the 100m. He ran a 10.89 prelim time good for the 2nd seed going into the Finals where he would post a 10.71 good for the bronze medal. We will be watching other Regional times as they post to see if Tate might secure the wild card into the State Track Meet.

4x200m Relay Girls


Next onto the track was the Lady Falcons 4x200 relay team. Coach Mauldin coming into Regionals tweaked his lineup slightly and saw the team of Caitlin Culwell, Leah Ruthardt, Bayleigh Eason and Jesse Fowler qualify 2nd with a 1:47.07 in prelims. That same team turned on the jets in the Finals posting a new school record time of 1:44.03 with Jesse Fowler hawking down the Alpine anchor leg in the last 20m to get the Lady Falcons the silver medal and the ticket to the State Track Meet.

4x200m Relay Boys


The Falcons 4x200 relay team of Easton Fuentes, Max Rodriguez, JT Suggs and Baylor King ran a prelim time of 1:32.02 good for the 7th seed heading into the Finals. In those Finals Jake Hammer stepped in for Baylor King and despite running a great race they finished 7th with a time of 1:32.95.

400m Run


The 400m was up next for the Lady Falcons with Joscelin Watson taking the track. Watson battling thru a nagging hip injury to put up a time of 1:03.36 wrapping up her season with 11th at Regionals. Watson will now turn her eyes towards an off season where the Lady Falcons will be looking to get their 2022 State Bronze Medal 4x400 team healthy and ready to make a run back to the podium in her senior season.

For the Falcons Jett Paris was up next in the 400m. Jett ran a 53.18 good for 11th place here at Regionals.

300m Hurdles


Troi Peart made the most of her opportunity here at Regionals posting a time of 51.06 to qualify for the finals in 8th. In the finals she trimmed almost 2 seconds off her prelims with a time of 49.32 good for 7th place.

200m Dash


In the 200m dash Leah Ruthardt qualified for the finals in 3rd with a time of 25.58. In the Finals she captured the bronze medal with a time of 25.90 and she too will have her eyes on the other Regional times in hope she might secure the wild card into the State Track Meet.

Baylor King qualified 5th in prelims in the 200m with a time of 22.45. His finals time of 22.31 was good for 6th place in the Region.

Next up for the Falcons and Lady Falcons State Qualifiers will be the State Track Meet in Austin on May 11th.
