The 3A UIL State Track Meet is this Thursday at Mike Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus. The Falcons and Lady Falcons will be represented well by their relay teams.
Girls 4x100
The over 10,000 fans who will fill Mike Myers Stadium for the evening session on Thursday won't have to wait long to see the Lady Falcons take the track. The first race out of the gate will be the Girls 4x100 where the Lady Falcons team of Kenley King, Leah Ruthardt, Bayleigh Eason and Jesse Fowler come in with the 2nd fastest qualifying time (behind only Universal City Randolph) from Regionals with a time of 48.92.
Boys 4x100
Next up on the track will be the Boys 4x100 which will be led out by the fastest 4x100 team in the State this year, the Bushland Falcons. The team of Ivan Soto, Tanner Adams, Tate Butcher and Baylor King looked dominant in their Regional Finals performance posting the fastest time in all of 3A with a 41.78. Getting to this point though has been a testament to the depth and the excellence of the Falcon sprinters. 6 weeks ago at the Amarillo Relays when Adams went down at the end of the 100m race with a hip injury sophomore Max Rodriguez stepped in and for the next month helped the Falcons win both the District and Area Championships giving Tanner the opportunity to get healthy and not rush back too soon from injury. Over the past 2 weeks Adams has looked every bit of the dominant force who until his injury had the fastest 100m time in the State. It'll be fun to see just how fast they can go as they will be challenged at State by both Slaton and the defending 4x100 State Champs Atlanta.
Girls 100m Dash
The 100m Dash will see Jesse Fowler making her 3rd consecutive appearance at the State Track Meet in the 100m. She only missed coming in 2020 as they cancelled the meet due to Covid. The Utah Tech signee comes in with a ton of momentum after posting her first sub 12 second 100m at Area.
Girls 4x200
The final race of the day for Bushland will feature Caitlyn Culwell, Bayleigh Eason, Leah Ruthardt and Jesse Fowler. The Lady Falcons come into State seated 3rd after posting a 1:43.03 at Regionals in a race that saw Jesse Fowler track down and over take the Alpine anchor leg to punch their ticket to State. Much like the boys 4x100 the girls 4x200 has been a display of impressive depth this season after one of the top relay runners in all of 3A Sloan Hale went down at the Amarillo Relays. Avery Ramos and Ashby Graham stepped up and helped them win district and advance to Regionals.
